[season1-16] '옷이 더이상 맞지 않다'는 표현은 영어로 어떻게 할까요?

안녕하세요.

님의 아이들은 특별히 좋아하는 옷이 있나요?

저희 아이는 주머니가 있는 바지를 특히 좋아해요.

그렇지만 옷에 대한 집착이 별로 없는 편인데, 가끔씩 버린 옷을 찾을때가 있긴 하더라고요.

얼마전에, 작년에 입던 주머니 반바지를 달라고 해서 당황했었어요ㅋㅋㅋ

그건 카고바지처럼 주머니가 여러개 달린 반바지였거든요. 

 

오늘 까이유도 아기때 입던 옷을 입으려고 고집부리는게 나오네요.

Caillou's Teddy Shirt (S01E16)

Caillou : You sit here, Teddy. Here it comes, Teddy.

Rosie : Duckie, duckie, duckie. Me play.

C : Okay. No.

Caillou couldn't believe his eyes. Rosie was wearing his very favorite shirt.

 

C : Mommy. Mommy.

Mom : What is it, Caillou?

C : Rosie is wearing my teddy shirt.

M : It's much too small for you, so I gave it to Rosie to wear.

C : It's not too small for me. It's mine.

M : I need this shirt, Rosie.

R : Teddy shirt?

M : I'll get you your nice mousie shirt, Rosie. Okay?

C : See, it still fits me. It's perfect.

M : Okay.

R : Tickie-tickie.

C : Stop that.

Poor Caillou! His tummy was itchy from the carpet. And his shirt just wouldn't stay tucked in. 

Maybe it was too small for him. But then Caillou got an idea. Caillou thought he might be able to tape his shirt.

 

C : Yucky tape. You stay.

 

Caillou was very sad. He knew that his teddy shirt didn't fit him anymore, but he didn't want to give it up.

 

M : Caillou. there's you wearing your teddy shirt. You look so cute. You were two.

C : That's when I was little. I had my teddy shirt.

M : I'm sorry I didn't ask you before I gave it to Rosie. I forgot how much you used to like it.

 

Caillou still liked it.... but he knew he was bigger now and it didn't fit him any more.

 

M : Maybe we can put it away in a special place to keep forever.

C : I'm going to give it to Teddy.

M : Good idea. Teddy, you look beautiful in your new shirt.

R : Teddy shirt.

까이유가 테이프로 옷을 붙이는거 너무 재밌네요.

아이들은 정말 엉뚱한 것 같아요.

옷이 작은걸 뻔히 알면서도 꾸역꾸역 입는 것도 귀엽고요.

• It still fits me. 아직 저한테 맞아요.

• I'm sorry I didn't ask you before I gave it to Rosie. 너한테 물어보지 않고 로지한테 (셔츠를) 줘서 미안해.
• He knew he was bigger now and it didn't fit him any more. 그는 몸이 자라서 더이상(셔츠가) 맞지 않는다는걸 알았다.
• It didn't fit him any more. (셔츠는) 더이상 그에게 맞지 않았다.
• I'm going to give it to Teddy. 테디한테 (셔츠를) 줄래요.

fit이라는 단어를 보니 미국에서 중고 거래를 할때 썼던 표현이 생각나네요.

중고 거래를 할때 큰 가구 같은 경우에는, 차에 가구가 들어갈 수 있을지 물어봐야 하잖아요.

이럴때 어떻게 표현할까요?

그때도 fit이라는 단어를 써서 Is it fit my car? (차에 실릴까요?) 라고 말할 수 있어요.

이렇게 fit은 옷이 몸에 맞다는 표현을 할때도 쓸 수 있지만, 물건이 어느 공간에 맞게 들어갈 때도 쓸 수 있답니다.
