까이유의 동생 로지가 태어났네요.
흔히 둘째가 태어나면 첫째들이 더 관심을 받고 싶어서
퇴행행동을 하거나, 동생을 괴롭히기도 하죠.
까이유도 동생이 처음 집에 왔을때 혼란을 느꼈나봐요.
오늘도 정말 좋은 표현들이 많이 있으니 한번 확인해보세요.
Caillou : Baby sister coming, mommy.
Mom : very soon, Caillou. I'm going to the hosital today. Grandma will look after you.
A few days later, Caillou was very excited because he was going to meet Rosie for the very first time.
C : Mommy here, Daddy here.
Dad : We're home.
M : All three of us. Say hello to your new sister, Caillou. This is Rosie.
Caillou wasn't sure if he liked Rosie.
Grandma : Oh, she's just beautiful. She's aboulutely adorable. Isn't she gorgeous?
D : She's my special girl.
Rosie wasn't very happy and neither was Caillou. Nobody was paying attention to him.
He thought they only cared about Rosie. Caillou was so unhappy. He didn't even like his doll anymore.
D : Would you like to rock the baby, Caillou?
C : No.
Caillou didn't know if he liked Rosie very much.
D : OK. Maybe later.
Caillou's daddy wasn't happy to see him pinching Rosie.
D : Caillou, why did you do that to Rosie?
C : I don't like Rosie.
D : Why not?
C : Rosie doesn't play with me.
D : But she's only baby. She's just too little to play with you, now.
It's not easy being a big brother, is it?
But now that you are a big brother.
You can protect Rosie since she's so small.
Say, would you like to help me?
I can't do this by myself. Caillou, would you pass me the diaper, please?
Dad & Caillou : Pee...
M : So you've been feeling a bit left out of things, haven't you, Gilbert? All changed?
C : Yes, I helped daddy.
M : Would you like to hold her, Caillou?
C : Yes, please, mommy.
M : Watch her head. What is it, Caillou?
C : No, she smells good.
- Baby sister coming, mommy? 아기가 태어나는 거죠, 엄마?
- Say hello to your new sister. 새 여동생에게 인사하렴.
- she's just beautiful. She's aboulutely adorable. 그녀가 너무 예쁘다. 정말 사랑스러워.
- Isn't she gorgeous? 정말 멋지지 않니?
- Nobody was paying attention to him. 아무도 그에게 관심을 갖지 않았다.
- Caillou thought they only cared about Rosie. 까이유는 다른 사람들이 로지에게만 관심이 있다고 생각했다.
- Would you like to rock the baby? 아기 좀 흔들어 주겠니?
- Caillou didn't know if he liked Rosie very much. 까이유는 자기가 로지를 좋아하는지 아닌지 헷갈렸다.
- Caillou's daddy wasn't happy to see him pinching Rosie. 까이유 아빠는 까이유가 로지를 꼬집는걸 보고 속상했다.
- You can protect Rosie since she's so small. 로지가 너무 작으니깐 니가 로지를 보호해줘야지.
- Say, would you like to help me? 자, 나좀 도와줄래?
- I can't do this by myself. 이걸 혼자서는 못하겠구나.
- Would you pass me the diaper, please? 기저귀 좀 건네줄래?
- you've been feeling a bit left out of things, haven't you? 조금 소외감을 느꼈니?
- All changed? (기저귀) 다 갈았나요?

* pee 오줌/ poop 똥
* diper 기저귀
* rock 바위, 흔들다
미국에 가기 전엔 토익이나 회화만 공부했었지, 육아에 대한 표현은 잘 몰랐었는데요,
기저귀라는 표현도 모르고 갔었던게 생각나네요ㅋㅋㅋ
우리나라도 아기한테는 '소변, 대변'이 아닌 '쉬, 응가' 라는 표현을 하는데요,
pee, poop이 그런 표현이라고 보시면 되요.
배변훈련을 하는 아기들한테 Do you want to pee?(쉬 마려워?),
Pooped!(응가했네!)라고 얘기할 수 있어요.
rock이라는 단어는 바위를 뜻하기도 하지만, 흔들다는 동사로도 쓰일 수 있어요.
'rocking horse'는 '흔들말'을 뜻하고, 'rock a bye baby'는 아기를 재울때 가볍게 흔드는 걸 말해요.
'rock a bye baby' 라는 자장가도 있으니 찾아서 들어보시길 바래요!
