[season1-6] '세차하는거 도와주기로 했지?' 영어로 어떻게 얘기해야 할까요?

안녕하세요.

오늘은 자동차를 좋아하는 까이유 이야기예요.

저희 아이도 온갖 자동차들을 사모으고 있는데, 특히 중장비를 좋아해요.

 

이번 에피소드를 보니 까이유도 트럭, 버스 등 자동차는 다 좋아하네요. 

아빠와 세차하면서 신나게 운전하는 까이유가 너무 귀엽네요.

Dad : Have you seen Caillou anywhere? He said he wanted to help me with the car.

Mom : I think he's in the garden, driving his car.

Rosie : Caillou's in his car.

 

Now you probably know that Caillou loves anything to do with cars and buses and trucks.

D : There you are. Did you forget? You said you wanted to help me wash the car.

 

Caillou imagined he was driving the most fantastic car you ever saw.

 

Caillou : Hello, Mr.lion. I'm really going fast. This is fun.

D : Oh no, Caillou. Look what you made me do.

C : Daddy. You're all wet. What happened?

 

Caillou have no idea that he was the one who made his Daddy spray himself with water.

 

D : Well, it was an accident. Don't I look silly?

C : Yes.

D : Do you still want to help me?

C : You bet! I was driving the car, daddy.

D : Is that right?

C : I love cars, you know.

D : I know you do. I used to love cars when I was little, too.

M : And you still love cars.

C : Look, mommy. It's all clean and shiny.

M : Well. What we waiting for? Let's go for a picnic at the beach.

C : Hello, Mr.lion. Can I drive the car when I'm bigger, Daddy? Will you teach me?

D : Of course, Caillou.

아빠가 세차하는 동안 운전석에 앉아서 엄청 빨리 운전한다고 생각하는 까이유가 정말 귀엽네요.

입으로 소리 내는 것도 귀엽고요. 어느 나라나 다들 비슷하게 노는 것 같아요.

오늘 나온 표현들 중에 몇 가지만 확실히 외우고 갈까요?

• Have you seen Caillou anywhere? 까이유 어디있는지 알아요?
• Caillou loves anything to do with cars and buses and trucks. 까이유는 자동차, 버스, 트럭에 관련된 것은 뭐든지 좋아해요.
• You said you wanted to help me wash the car. 나를 도와서 세차하고 싶다고 말했었지.
• Look what you made me do. 너 때문에 내가 어떻게 됐는지 보렴.
• Don't I look silly? 나 바보같아 보이지 않니?
• You bet! 물론이죠!
• Is that right? 정말이니?
• Can I drive the car when I'm bigger? 좀 더 크면 자동차 운전해도 돼요?

Bet이라는 단어는 '(경마 내기 등에) 돈을 걸다', '(~이) 틀림없다'는 뜻이에요. 

그러니 You bet!이라는 건 '틀림없어요!', '물론이죠!'라는 뜻이랍니다. 

 

silly는 '우스꽝스러운', '유치한', '바보 같은' 등의 뜻으로 아이들에게 많이 써요.

남자아이들이 웃긴 행동이나 유치한 장난을 할 때, silly boy!라고 얘기하죠.

 

한 에피소드 당 5분 정도의 짧은 내용이어서 매일 공부하기 좋네요.
