미국은 요즘 에어컨을 하루 종일
틀어야 할 정도로
날씨가 많이 더워졌어요.
세계기상기구(WMO) 관측 사상
두 번째로 더운 해였던 작년보다
올해가 훨씬 더울 거라고 해요.
아무래도 올여름은 아이스 아메리카노를
달고 살 것 같네요.
안 그래도 더위에 지치는데 좀 더 즐겁게
영어를 해보면 어떨까 해서
영어 동요 몇 가지를 추천하려고요.

이 노래는 거의 미국 국민 동요예요.
아기 때부터 부르고 큰 아이들도
좋아할 정도로 호불호 없는 동요예요.
어린이집, 유치원뿐만 아니라
아이들이 모이는 곳에서는
빠지지 않고 부르는 것 같아요.

이 노래는 영어와 숫자 개념을 함께
익힐 수 있는 동요예요.
5마리의 원숭이가 침대에서 뛰다가
한 마리씩 떨어져서 결국 침대에
한 마리도 없다는 내용이에요.
(+ 침대에서 뛰면 안 된다는 교육도
덤으로 가능하지요.)

미국에서도 율동을 곁들여
부르는 동요로 인기가 많아요.
Itsy, bitsy는
'아주 작은'이라는 뜻이에요.
아주 작은 거미에 대한

이 노래는 가사가 짧죠?
water spout는 비가 왔을 때
물을 아래로 흘려주는

거미가 배수관을 타고 올라가다가
비가 와서 미끄러졌는데,
해가 나와서 다시 배수관을
올라간다는 재미있는 내용이에요.
